You dont need to use an equal amount of ammonia. I believe uh, phonon had a discussion about this some time ago. He said that using 1/16 of ammonia would be enough.

It depends on how acidic your syrup is because some have a lot of citric acid in them. The best thing to do would be to add it until the Ph reaches 11.

According to the DXM zine, issue 16, article "How to get the most for your money" only a ph of 9 is required to basify DXM.

I have also heard of "washing" the naphtha with water to remove polar impurities before doing the extraction. Anyone got anything to say about this practice? I did it and it worked but I cant speak for the yield.

Although it may not be required, I do seem to get a higher yield from aiming for a higher ph.

If naphtha and non-sudzy ammonia ever disappear, alternative teks are needed.

Heres a method of extracting mescaline using chemicals that can be food-grade.
http://wiki.dmt-nexus.me/69ron%27s_D...ine_Extraction
This method also lists the optional step of using M.E.K. to purify the mescaline further. I wonder if using this, or the related compound acetone, could purify the dextromethorphan further too. Remove that God-awful menthol smell.

I feel this can be easily adapted for extracting dxm from cough syrup.

If circumstances ever ordain us to write a tek using this method, I propose it be called the Agent Orange tek. This is due to the idea that extracting a recreational drug from cough syrup using solvents and caustic chemicals is not crazy enough.

And limonene is orange oil. But the Law of Legend states we must go with the most ridiculous explanation and not the simplest.

Float on a river, forever and ever.

This is excellent. I wish I had data to discount or reinforce this, but sadly I have nary a clue. Answers...
