YES, it's actually true. Schering-Plough actually addded the below to their website. Talk about chutzpah. Kettles really shouldn't call pots black. They *sell* the stuff, and then blame others for the fact people abuse Coricidin. Hmm...take a look at this:
http://www.google.ie/search?hl=en&q=corici...le+Search&meta= Gee, that site listed first sure seems familiar. Doesn't seem to me that it is encouraging Coricidin abuse. And look at the links to the Third Plateau and Erowid. Those don't seem to indicate Coricidin abuse is recommended. http://www.coricidinhbp.com/facts_about_de...omethorphan.htm "Why are teens abusing products that contain dextromethorphan? "Dextromethorphan is a safe and effective cough suppressant when used as indicated on the product label. However, when taken in doses that far exceed the amount recommended, the ingredient may produce feelings of euphoria that some seek to get "high." A teenager looking to get high or experiment with drugs may turn to OTC cough and cold preparations that contain dextromethorphan because they are readily available at home or the local drug store. Dextromethorphan can also be purchased in a bulk powder form on the Internet. Some Web sites encourage teenagers to abuse dextromethorphan and actually offer "recipes" for the best way to achieve a high." At least they do qualify that with "Some Web sites...". Conveniently ignoring all the websites that say to specifically avoid Coricidin. Yep, Coricidin abuse is all the fault of the Internet. The manufacturer is totally blameless, and is a victim of evil websites encouraging Coricidin abuse. I should probably take down my websites before they really do blame me directly by name for corrupting the youth of America. Remember Socrates. Hell, at the moment I really have a big bull's eye on me. http://www.google.ie/search?hl=en&q=dxm&bt...le+Search&meta= At least for the moment (it probably won't last), I have the coveted top 2 spots on the Google "DXM" SERP, moving ahead of Erowid. The top listed site is the natural #1 target. Perhaps it would be better to let the Erowid's take the heat. Perhaps all the webmasters of DXM sites should take them offline. That'll stop Coricidin abuse in its tracks. In a pig's eye. |

Im pretty such the entire blame should be put on the manufacture. Its not really our fault we figured out a recreational use. Put it behind the counters, most people 18 and over are smart enough to not overdose on CCC. CCC should just make a cough version of thier pills and our problems w/ abuse would be solved, kids wouldnt have the need to use CCC. Its totally thier problem. Pending the fact I am not the government, I guess those of you whom are getting an absurd increase in hits should probably temporarly down the site till this blows over. Dunno if you could be implemented for blame. Is it me or did this uproar suddenly start to happen AFTER Dr. Phil did this show?

i suggest opening up the DXM Harm Reduction Project to peer rewiew and collaboration, that way, it will actually be a harm-reduction project instead of one guy's semi-honest ends-justify-the-means message combined with a knack for search term optimization. and no, your site is not Harm Reduction, as harm reduction is based on meeting users on their level, and engaging them, and it is diametrically opposed to authority figures (or individuals with "coveted" SERP spots) regurgitating half-assed statistics and shrill warnings. given your 100% prevention-based model and admittedly slanted interpretation of data for extra impact, your tactics are closer to D.A.R.E. than HR. i think my opinions are made painfully evident by your veritable raging boner for your "coveted" SERP spot as opposed to you being excited and gratified by meeting or talking with people, engaging them and developing your facts and ideas in order to help people who have problems, or are in risky situations. this is not a flame, it's the facts. schering did a good thing by placing that information there, as it's accurate (sans their mandatory links to PDFA et al). do you truly expect them to link to a site which decries their product as deadly posion? |

http://www.coricidin.org/ "Coricidin (Dextromethorphan + Chlorpheniramine Maleate) Harm Reduction Website "Warning: Coricidin HBP Cough & Cold ("Triple C") is dangerous at high doses, and should NOT be abused! If you choose to use dextromethorphan (DXM) recreationally as a psychedelic, you should use a source that contains ONLY dextromethorphan (DXM) as the active ingredient, like Robitussin Maximum Strength cough syrup (or generic equivalents) and Dexalone." Which part of Coricidin contains "Dextromethorphan + Chlorpheniramine Maleate" do you have trouble understanding? Certainly your criticism above is inaccurate. Quote:

DARE mentions what recreational doses of DXM are likely quite safe??? Quote:
