I got a recent e-mail tip about this death, and this thread seems to confirm it.

http://www.breakingopenthehead.com/cgi-bin...c;f=12;t=000105 (http://www.breakingopenthehead.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=12;t=000105)

Note multiple family members of the deceased, Daniel F. Carpenter, have posted in that thread. Apparently he was so heavily into DXM that he wrote a book about it, and the book already has a contract with a publisher and will be out shortly.

I know nothing more about this case other than what is in that thread. It is unknown if he was under the influence of any drugs at all when he committed suicide.

My condolences if anyone reading here knew the deceased.

Oh shit when I first saw the topic title I thought you may have been referring to "DXM User" who posts here... wow!

He wouldn't kill himself. He just cuts himself to show his need to be emancipated.

Mods, please edit the thread title to something else appropriate.

That thread is pretty interesting. I would definately be interested in reading that book.

The post by his mom in that thread was weird.

edit: the admins should probably just give you access to the dxm news forum since you research it so much.

This is interesting:

Note halfglass mentions he paid for a small, private printing of his book in 2003. And PeoplesMind in that thread asks for a copy. PeoplesMind may already have read this book.

I was considering killing myself on and off the last few months. I was planning on doing it while on at least 600mg. Then I decided if I was going to top myself, I wouldn't do it while on DXM. It'd give the drug a bad name and make people vilify it more.

What's to bet people start blaming his suicide on the drug.

Yeah overdose on something like heroin that already has a bad reputation.

I contacted the coroner's office. I did confirm the death, and that it was a suicide. However, the toxicology reports won't be available for 6-8 weeks, whcih would be around the very end of September this year.

These deaths are making me even more acutely aware that people really need some sort of healing modality and ceremonial context for exploring these substances in a healthy manner. I think this is especially true at this point in time, when psychic energies - dark as well as light - seem to be exponentially magnified.

Ditto.

Here is the book: http://www.innertraditions.com/Product.jmd...yDetail&id=2132 (http://www.innertraditions.com/Product.jmdx;jsessionid=8FE20545FA44ED48090DE8CCD2 3B8FD4?action=displayDetail&id=2132)

I wish it was available at Barnes and Noble so I could read it for free. I'm poe! Uz got 50 cent?

interesting bio on that link. am i to understand he only did dxm 13 times? or that he only documented 13 trips?

Definately seems like a worthwhile read, like a really in depth trip report. Shame he didn't stick it out though and get to the fun part of dxm. :(
